👉Waves!! 👈
👇Learning targets
Students can identify and discribe parts of a wave.
Students can caculate wave speed
👀Special Vocabulary
Crest - Are high points of a transverse wave.
Trough - Are the low points of a transverse wave.
Amplitude - Is a measure of the size of the disturbance from the wave.
Wavelength- The distance between one point on a wave and the nearest point just like it.
Period - Is the amount of time it takes one wavelength to pass a point.
Frequency - Is the number of wave lengths that pass a fixed point each second.
Doppler Effect - Is the change in a wave frequency due to a wave source moving relative to an observer or an observer moving relative to a wave source
✴Doppler Effect
Example👇
So as you're walking by a tornado siren pole and you're near when it goes off, the alarm siren's wavelength of the sound of the alram tends to be small, and the frequency get high and the further you are from the tornado alram siren when it goes off, the wavelength tends to be longer and the frequency tends to be low.
😤 Did You Know ?
That the speed of a electomagnetic wave is affected by the medium it travels through, an electromagnetic wave travels faster through gas, liquid, and then solid.
😤 Did You Know ?
That the speed of a mechanical wave is affect by the medium it travels through, because of how apart the particles are and how long it takes them to transfer a wave. For example solid is the fastest a mechanical wave can travel through to transfer a wave, because particles are closest together in a solid, therefore it takes a short amount of time for a wave to travel through a solid, since particles can bump into each other faster and transfer the wave . The second fastest is through liquid , and then gas.
Wave Speed Formula !
Another Example
A wave traveling in water has a frequency of 250 Hz and a wavelengh of 6.0m .
What is the speed of the wave ?
Wave speed = 250 Hz x 6.0m
Wave speed = 1,500m/s
Wave Speed = Frequency x wavelength
(M/S) (HZ) (M)
Example ~ Cici was surfing on the ocean the frequency of the wave is 4 Hz and the wavelength of the wave is 4.0 meters what is the wave speed of cici's wave.
Wave speed = 4Hz x 4.0m
wave speed = 16m/s

This picture is describing the parts of a wave for example the crest the top of the wave and the trough the bottom of the wave and one point from and wave to another is called a wavelength and ect.
This video explains the different parts of a wave and it deeply talks about each part. And how to find the wavelength, amplitude, and crest , trough , and so on.
